Background While modifying defined static text of custom description, editing occurs outside the braces of static text. Refer below steps to define,modify the static text. This article explains about addition & modification of custom description for pipe. Steps to Accomplish Launch OpenPlant Specification Generator . Open desired spec of particular project, say imperial project spec. Navigate to Pipe Section . Right mouse on pipe record whose size ranges from ¼ to 24 to define custom description for these sizes. From drop-down menu select Custom Description as shown below. Under Description Fields click on “+” to add a description field , see image below. Under Column section, left click to select LONG_DESCR field as shown below. Double click on Value field to define field description as shown below. Description fields can be defined be double clicking the values as CATALOG, COMP_LEN, etc. as shown below. Click on green check icon to save. Notice that selected fields are populating under Long Descr as shown below. a. To define Static Text Static text for description fields can be defined by adding [text] as shown below. Click on green check icon to save the settings. Notice the results as shown below. b. To Modify Static Text Defined static text can be modified by adding “ > ” after the defined static text. E.g. to modify > >[ASME B 31.8] as > >[ASME B 31.8 PIPE], enter > first & try to modify the defined static text as shown below. Once static text has been modified as desired you can delete >.
