Applies To Product(s): OpenPlant Modeler Version(s): 08.11.09.XXX Environment: Windows 7 64 bit Area: Component Subarea: Graphics Original Author: Harpreet Singh, Bentley Technical Support Group Background In OpenPlant Modeler, custom components can be created in a cell library so that user gets flexibility to use the custom components more than just once. Steps to Accomplish Launch OpenPlant Modeler and create a New file. Name the file with ".cel" extension in the end. Please see below picture: Please Note: As highlighted in above picture, seed file is very critical in this step. Go to File>Models and create a new model. Create the component graphics using Microstation elements or you can import the graphics from other CAD engines. Select the graphical elements and select 'Create New Custom Component' from Piping Task. Select the Class from the component type drop down menu. If you want to use spec data to create the custom component then check ON 'Use Spec Data' option in the dialog. It will automatically populate the Port data. But if you do not have the entries in the spec, you need to manually define the ports. Click "Define Origin" to define the origin point of the valve. Define the connect points for both the ports. Click Define connect points and select the left port of the valve followed by defining the direction. As soon as MAIN_PORT is defined it asks to define the RUN_PORT. Similarly, select the right port and define the direction by moving the cursor towards right. Once the Origin & Connect points are defined 'Create Component' button is enabled automatically. Click 'Create Component' to finish the component creation. It opens up the component placement dialog. Fill in the required fields and click the Green Check button to complete the placement of valve. Now open the model dgn file. In piping task, select "Place component from Cell" option. Browse the cell library and select the Gate Valve cell and click OK to place in the model. Connect the pipe with valve to verify. Things to Remember: User need to change the Name of the valve manually because it will fetch the name from cell file since it does not check for the duplicate IDs and not extend the number automatically. User can only place the valve from origin point. Custom valve cannot be placed inline as parametric valves. Comments or Corrections?
