Applies To Product(s): OpenPlant Modeler Version(s): 08.11.09.XXX Environment: Windows 7 (64 bit) Area: Component Subarea: Graphics - Custom Component Original Author: Kestutis Mitkus, Bentley Product Advantage Group In OpenPlant Modeler, to create a Steam Trap component. Background As per project requirement Steam Trap component needed to add in OpenPlant Modeler. Below steps illustrates how to create a Steam Trap component. Steps to Accomplish This will execute in 3 steps: A. Add Custom Component Attributes for a Class. In Class Editor, Open “ OpenPlant_3D.01.06.ecschema ” & Supplement it with below schema. OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_Information_3DComponent.01.06.ecschema OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_Modeling.01.06.ecschema Navigate to STEAM_TRAP class. See image below. Steam Trap class is missing custom attributes and the easiest way would be to copy them form similar class. I have copied " Use Class As Custom Component ", " Component Ports Information " and " Creation Attribute " custom attributes from Strainer class. Configure your Steam Trap " Component Ports Information " as required and sett " Use Class As Custom Component " to " True ". Save all changes and open OpenPlant Modeler for testing B. Creation of Custom Component. Create your Steam Trap component graphics using Microstation elements Select the graphical elements and select "Create New Custom Component" from Piping Task. Select STEAM_TRAP Class from the component type drop down menu. If Specification is already created check ON 'Use Spec Data' option in the dialog. It will automatically populate the Port data. But if there is no entries in the spec, you need to manually define the ports. Define origin, define connect points and create your Steam Trap component. Test and verify the results. Same workaround can be used for Steam Trap component Cell creation. Please review this wiki article: How to Create Custom Components from Cell C. Creation of Spec. If there is need you can create new catalog and new specification with your Steam Trap data. For this purpose please review this wiki article: How to Create Multiport Custom Valve See Also See Help Menu for 'Add Custom Attributes for a Class' for more details.
