Kestutis, Rahul Yes, have looked at standard escape sequencing. The page U linked Kestutis is a good guide, thx. However: What I started trying was two things. 1) Enter " into a string. In this case a doubling of the character will escape it and enter the " as a literal string. Works fine. 2)Tried to divide a string into multiline string based on input. For this I assumed a linefeed (either \n or \110). in this case I find that the \ is interpreted as a literal string, not an escape code. Meaning the string will be literally as entered in the expression, No escaping takes place. Regards Peter
