Applies To Product(s): OpenPlant Modeler Version(s): 08.11.09.XXX (SS5) | 08.11.11.XXX (SS6) Environment: Windows 7/8.1/10 (64 bit) Area: Component Subarea: Graphics Original Author: Rahul Kumar, Product Advantage Group Background In OpenPlant Modeler placement of the wafer type components and valves should exhibit auto flange placement at its port. There might be several occasions where the users want to get different types of flanges to appear automatically. By default Weld Neck Flanges appear automatically. Refer to the image below where a valve has been placed. The Weld Neck Flange appears and connects automatically on both ends of the valve. The description below will assist the user to get different flange types (For Example: SLIP_ON Flange or a Lap Joint Flange) by changing the entries made in the AutoFittingRules.xml file. Steps to Accomplish In the OpenPlant Modeler workspace go to the System folder and open “ AutoFittingsRules.xml ” file. Check below path for default setup: %Project Root%\OpenPlantModeler V8i\WorkSpace\OPModeler\System Search for flanges. See default entries below: Add a similar entry in AutoFittingsRules.xml file for SLIP_ON_FLANGE along with End preparation details like shown for weld neck flange. One quicker approach is to copy existing entry and paste it above all. See below image. Note – Auto placement picks up the first entry made in above file Save and Close File. Restart OpenPlant Modeler and verify results by placing a valve on a pipeline. Similarly to Get the “ LAP_JOINT_STUB_END ” flange to appear automatically while placement, user need to change the order in the file, like shown in below image. Save & Close the file. Restart OpenPlant Modeler and verify results by placing a valve on a pipeline. See Also Also check Help file using keyword Auto Flange for exploring more and getting control of Flange through spec.
